Simple Ways to Defeat Bad Thoughts!

Like Shakespeare said 'Nothing is good or bad, but thinking makes it so'.
When we use the term 'bad thoughts', we are in no way making a value judgement.
It would be more accurate to say, 'unhelpful' or 'disempowering' thoughts.
We must remember that thoughts are not reality.
Nor are they necessarily the truth.
Just because we have a thought about ourselves or somebody else, does not mean it is the truth or indeed worth entertaining.
How many thousands of thoughts flit through our mind on a daily basis? And how many of them are pointless, inaccurate, fearful and destructive.
Every time we think, we churn the ethers.
Strong thinkers are big achievers.
People who achieve much in life, are able to focus their thoughts on their goal.
So when we think of a person, an idea, or an object;it already appears in the invisible.
We give it life if we think a lot, about it with lots of passion and with a strong interest.
When a gifted clairvoyant looks at someone, he/she senses objects, people or things that the subject dwells on the most.
Emotion is very important for giving life to a thought.
Emotion and passion are the lifeblood of a thought.
They give thoughts longevity.
Eventually, all our thoughts will materialise.
Whether it happens in this lifetime or future incarnations.
The ultimate destiny of thought is to embody itself, to become a reality on the physical plane.
According to the Buddha: 'We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think.
When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.
' What does he mean by a pure mind? A diamond is so beautiful and precious and strong, because it is pure carbon.
Nothing else is added to it.
It is simply made up of this one component.
Purity is what makes it so priceless.
In general, we in the West have way too many thoughts.
There is nothing wrong with thinking so long as we do not permit thoughts to rule our lives.
Recurring thoughts can be a real challenge.
The reason why mindfulness is getting such good results in reducing the remission of depression is precisely because it teaches us to look at our thoughts as EVENTS.
We do not need to get so involved with them that they take over our lives.
The saying 'Birds of a Feather flock together' hints that our line of thinking, our thoughts, are attracted to similar thoughts in the ethers.
So if we are continually thinking sad thoughts we then draw upon a universal store of negative thoughts.
No wonder we end up feeling worse.
Though is a deep and interesting subject.
There is still so much to learn about it.
