    Moving a Dryer

    • 1). Acquire an appliance dolly or hand truck in order to keep the bulk and weight distribution even when you move the dryer.

    • 2). Remove the metallic hose from the back of the dryer. Store the hose in the dryer so you have it on hand when you are ready to set the dryer up again.

    • 3). If you have an electric dryer, unplug it, loop and secure the cord with tape to the back of the dryer to keep it out of the way.

    • 4). If you have a gas dryer, turn off the gas and remove the hose. Loop and secure it, storing it in the dryer until you need it again.

    • 5). Carefully slide the dryer onto the dolly. For extra security and support (for instance, going down stairs) bungee or tie the appliance to the dolly frame. Have at least two people on hand to guide and support the dryer as you move it.

    Moving a Washer

    • 1). Acquire an appliance dolly or hand truck in order to keep the bulk and weight distribution even when you move the washer.

    • 2). Turn off the water leading into the unit.

    • 3). Turn the warm water on in the washer for 30 seconds to release pressure from the hoses. Let the water drain and then turn it off.

    • 4). Unhook the hoses from the back of the washer. Loop and store them inside the unit.

    • 5). Unplug the washer and disconnect the drain hose from the wall. Secure both of these to the back of the unit with tape.

    • 6). Carefully slide the washer onto the dolly. For extra security and support (for instance, going down stairs) bungee or tie the appliance to the dolly frame. Have at least two people on hand to guide and support the washer as you move it.
